Join us for a fundraiser and movie night in support of They Cycle — the organization that’s about being who you are on the inside, in the outside. Their #FillThePodium program breaks down barriers to participation for gender-diverse athletes through financial support, education, and, most importantly, community.
We’ll be showing a series of short, inspirational documentaries and an exclusive interview with Abi Robins a.k.a. “Queer Gravel”, the subject of Making Our Space: Unbound and Beyond. Any attendee that donates over $5 will have the opportunity to win awesome prizes donated by local businesses!
Registration is requested for each attendee. Please click the RSVP button at the top of this page to sign up. If sign ups are full, click the 'Add To Waitlist' button and you will be notified of any openings.
We aim to foster a community of cyclists that encourages participation of people from marginalized groups, particularly the gender diverse community. This is not about training and competing at the highest possible level. It is about creating a space that is first and foremost about having fun and connecting with community. #FilThePodium Website: theycycle.ca Instagram: @theycyclecanada
Our mission is to increase trans and queer participation in gravel cycling by creating spaces where trans, nonbinary, and gender expansive people are centered, celebrated, cared for. We envision a new kind of cycling community that is accessible, enriching, and supportive for everyone who has been pushed to the edges by the cycling industry. We work with individual athletes and advocates, communities, and brands to not only help queer and trans individuals over come the barriers to cycling, but to remove those barriers all-together. We use the tools of community building, advocacy, and mutual aid to accomplish our goals.
#FillThePodium is a program to ensure that no rider rides alone. Even when there are opportunities for gender-diverse athletes to compete in cycling events there are many barriers that remain. These barriers often lead to low participation in these events. Indeed, participation is often so low that a single rider will stand alone on the podium. #FillThePodium aims to provide all the support necessary for gender-diverse athletes to focus on enjoying their time on and off the bike.
